Description

A Celebration of Fifty Years in the Garden 10am - 4 pm Saturday May 23 or Sunday May 24

Come join Bill and Jane on the patio for wine and cheese and music as they celebrate a half-century of gardening. Enjoy the flowering trees and the many blooming Rhododendrons. Walk the paths through both the front and back woods, marveling at the Trilliums, Virginia Bluebells, and the host of spring wildflowers in bloom.

Bill and Jane started this garden in 1965 on a wooded lot. They have amended the soil, added shrubs (both native and exotic) and encouraged the spread of native wildflowers already on the lot. Rock walls provide habitats for rock garden plants and ferns. In spring, the ground is a carpet of trillium, bloodroot, ramps, Solomon's seals, and many species of fern. If you haven't visited before, you owe yourself a vist to see how well native plants can be used in a suburban landscape. The garden has received an award from the VIIth District Federated Garden Clubs of NY, and was the first place winner in FLNPS' Native Plants in the Garden Contest.
