  Renee Petipas and Bruce Gilman will be our guides to these unique alvar sites. This will be an all day excursion. Meet a 8 am at CCE to carpool. Bring lunch and dress for warm, sunny conditions.

What a day! Great weather, cool, only a bit of rain. We spent most of the time at Chaumont Barrens, but took a short trip to Ransome Rd where Renee is doing some of her research.  A list of plants we noted is below. In addition to the plants, we saw:

Northern brown snake (dead, though, looked like a bird had caught it)
Luna moth (also dead), lots of skippers, giant swallowtail
Rufus sided tohee, redtail hawk, goldfinch, (lots more)
