Fragaria virginiana

Of the three subspecies of field strawberry, Fragaria virginiana ssp. virginiana (common wild strawberry) is the most likely to be seen in the Finger Lakes region. Edible and good for humans and wildlife. Found in open woods, fields, roadsides and even suburbs.
