Hedera helix

An evergreen, climbing vine with waxy heart-shaped dark green leaves with white veins. Black-purple fruits are dispersed by birds and plant also spreads vegetatively. English ivy will climb trees, covering branches and trunks. It deprives trees and shrubs of light, killing them in a few years. It also will form a dense ground cover, crowding out native plants. Fast growing, pest free and hardy, it continues to be used and sold as an ornamental plant.
