Petals
are
considered
by
botanists
to
be
leaves,
albeit
highly
modified
leaves.
They
comprise
the
corolla
of
a
flower.
Petals that are completely separate from each other are termed "distinct". (Figure A) Petals that are completely attached to each other to form a different-shaped entity are thought to be "fused". (Figure B) Petals that are partially attached to each other may be considered to have "lobes". (Figure C) |
