Stipule |

Stipules are small appendages that occur at the base of leaf stalks of some species. Across the various species in which they occur, stipules are highly diverse in appearance. Some look like winged tissue, some look like small leaves, while others look like sharp spines. There is no single-word English equivalent for this term. |
