Viburnum dentatum var. lucidum
A medium to tall shrub, mostly of wetter areas but it can be found in drier conditions, too. A good wildlife plant, it is a host for the spring azure butterfly. There are two varieties in NY; this is the more commonly seen and the leaf blade and veins are glabrous. The more coastal variety V. dentatum var venosum has stellate-pubescent leaves & petioles.
