carpel,
typically
containing
multiple
seeds,
and
splitting
open
at
maturity.
Note: There are many flowering plant species that produce capsules. The images below are two examples. Many types of capsules don't look like the images below. There are other types of dry fruits that split open at maturity, such as legumes and follicles. |
