Rim Trail

 

The rim trail is very different from the gorge trail, scenically and ecologically. Most of the rim trail is located high above the creek bed. Views of flowing water, cliffs and rock outcroppings are few and far between. Indeed, there are no significant rock outcrops or ledges along the rim trail. You will be in shade most of the way. Some portions are dominated by mature hemlocks and oaks (as shown above).

Nevertheless, the rim trail offers a quiet walk in the woods, far from crowds of visitors and the screaming young folks frolicking in the creek below.

We will begin our tour at the base of the hill, near the visitor center and parking lot, and steadily hike uphill, eventually reaching King Road
