The first, short leg of the
rim trail ends with a few, very old stairs. These are the only stairs
you'll encounter along the rim trail. They could be close to a hundred
years old. Interestingly, construction crews spread asphalt between the stairs to help
prevent erosion. Walking down these stairs can be tricky, for they are
uneven. So if you're not sure of foot, walk slowly and pay attention. The
other thing to watch for along this section of the rim trail is poison
ivy. Stay in the middle of the trail to be safe. |
