Where to meet: DEC parking area on south side of Hogsback Road. Look for gate and row of boulders marking off the parking area. If you search "Hogsback Road Rome, NY" in Google Maps the parking area is just west of the pin.
ALTERNATE - If you wish to carpool from Ithaca, be at theCornell Cooperative Extension on Willow Ave, Ithaca NO LATER THAN 7:50am. No guarantees of other cars/riders. Contact info@flnps.org if you know you can offer or will need a ride and I will try to connect people.
Description of the Outing: We will first visit lupines in bloom and look for other pine barren flora. After a lunch break we can visit a pitch pine bog owned by the Isaak Walton League. Regarding footwear, plan for terrain that varies from flat to sloping, with sandy soil in the morning and possibly wet conditions in the afternoon.
What to bring: Bring a lunch, water, bug repellent, other field gear (camera!).
