What happens when you stop mowing your yard? You can see for yourself by coming to visit this yard where mowing stopped in 2009. Many native species just appeared once mowing stopped; some were blooming within a few months. A few others species that did not appear have been added. Some species like honeysuckle, buckthorn, garlic mustard, and multiflora rose are actively being eliminated. More than 70 plant species have been identified in the area. Since this change, more birds, butterflies, and dragonflies have been seen.
Ample on-street parking is available. Questions? Contact info@flnps.org.
