Description
Jaycox Run, also known as Wheeler's Gully, is a small property located just north of Geneseo owned by The Genesee Valley Conservancy. In a deep gully with good sized waterfalls, this hike should be a good kick off to the spring season with various ephemerals to look out for. Home to both trout lilies: Erythronium americanum and Erythronium albidum, and we may be just in time to catch the especially ephemeral blooms of twin leaf (Jeffersonia diphylla). Other spring wildflowers are sure to abound, weather dependent, but the group may discover a few botanical surprises early in the season. Be prepared for creek crossings, cool spring weather, wet conditions, and possible off-trail traversing. The trip will conclude around 3:30 pm.
