Description
Michael Hough, a botanist and instructor at SUNY Cortland, will lead the group through a buttonbush swamp with some interesting wetland species like Wild Calla, and the acid woodlands around the swamp might provide a glimpse of the Pink Lady's Slipper and ebony spleenwort. Walking along the Lehigh Trail through rich woodlands we’ll see Canada Waterleaf, Black Snakeroot, Canada Honewort, and near and in the marl ponds, Canada Moonseed and Carex viridula. If we have time we may take a detour to Chicago Bog to look for bog species. Meet at CCE at 12 noon to carpool.
