Description

Land Conservation.  Easy to appreciate the concept, but how is it accomplished in the real world?  What tools are used to protect the land that people use for recreation and education, that wildlife rely on for habitat, and that farmers need to grow food?  Genesee Valley Conservancy Executive Director Ben Gajewski will talk about the work his organization is doing in the Genesee River Valley to protect land, the tools they use as a not-for-profit, the decision making that goes into projects, and how they prioritize where limited time and funding are put to use.  Non-profit land conservation organizations like Genesee Valley Conservancy operate across New York State, the nation, and even the world.  This talk will highlight the methods and considerations these groups have in common. This will be a remote Zoom talk, but please join us in the Nevin Center anyway for snacks & congeniality plus a larger screen!
