Description
Come join Cornell biologist, Marvin Pritts, for the unique opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of Smith Woods, an old growth forest where trees over 200 years old tower to impressive heights. Preserved since 1819, the historic ecosystem exists untouched by pioneer colonization, allowing for a glimpse at rare tree species, unique fungi and flowers, and mammoth hemlocks. A hike through Smith Woods is a hike back in time. Smith Woods is located just north of the Shur-Save on Route 96 in Trumansburg, New York. The hike will start at the entrance to Smith Woods at the corner of Cemetery and Fall Roads.
