Pycnanthemum muticum

A rhizomatous plant that attracts lots of pollinators, with special value to native bees. The leaves are highly aromatic, and the flower cluster is subtended by silvery bracts. While native to a large portion of eastern US, this species is listed as S2/S3 in NY state. That means, threatened, but not actually protected at this time. Thus, other Pycnanthemum species that are not threatened are a good substitute for pollinator gardens. If you use this species, please try to use local genotype.
