Solidago canadensis

A native that can become "invasive" in managed environments, although a bit less than S. altissima. But insects (including bees, butterflies, etc.) love it and make much use of both stems and flowers. There are two varieties in NY state, S. canadensis var. canadensis and S. canadensis var. hargeri.
