Trillium grandiflorum

One of the highlights of spring in the Finger Lakes, the great swaths of white Trillium seen in historic photos is hard to find these days. Deer, and habitat loss, are the main culprits. Trillium is protected in NYS - it takes 5-8 years to bloom, and picking one removes ALL of that year's energy intake. No more stalks or leaves until the following season.
