Berberis vulgaris

Another attractive plant introduced for horticulture but now extensively naturalized or invasive. It is considered a level 2 invasive in the Finger Lakes. Can be found in forests, fields, along streams, and in disturbed areas. Does not form thick patches like Japanese barberry, and is much less common as well. It can be distinguished from Japanese barberry because it has many more flowers per inflorescence and has toothed leaves.
