Lonicera canadensis
A frequent understory shrub in Finger Lakes forests, especially cooler locations. Pale yellow tubular flowers with occasional purple tinges are followed by bright red fruits, in pairs. Twinned fruits are also a characteristic of some invasive shrubby honeysuckles.
The cotyledons are dark green & true leaves substantive. Slow to germinate, use acidic, well drained mix. Some 1-2 yr seedlings in right photo
