Amelanchier laevis
This species is a small tree or large shrub, found in a variety of habitats. Distinguished from the other tree form Amelanchiers in our area by sparsely hairy leaves (A. canadense is densely pubescent), and strongly red-purple tinged leaves during flowering (A. intermedia is weakly-moderately tinged during flowering while A. arborea leaves are green and unfolding). Check keys, e.g. GoBotany for more ID characters. Edible fruit.
