Equisetum hyemale
Common in disturbed sites, roadsides, and streambanks. Scouring rush can form large stands. Vegetative and fertile stems are similar, with a small cone atop the fertile stem. Evergreen. Historically used to "scour" cooking pans due to the high silica content of the stem.
