Found mostly in disturbed soils and roadways and spreads rhizomatously and via seed. The plant is poisonous to livestock and the milky sap can cause dermatitis. Yellow flowers age to reddish. Traditionally planted in graveyards & still often found there. Listed as a noxious weed in many states.
