Laportea canadensis
Covered with stinging hairs (not in early spring). Alternate leaves easily distinguish this species from stinging nettle (Urtica dioica). Found in rich, moist or wet sites, sometimes in large populations. Brave individuals use young plants as pot-herbs.
Look for alternate leaves once true leaves arrive.
