Semi-evergreen shrub that grows up to 20 feet in height, forming dense thickets, invading fields, fencerows, roadsides, forests and riparian sites. Shades out understory native spieces including tree seedlings. Flowers April - June and pollen can cause allergic reactions in some people. Spreads via abundant seeds which are eaten by birds and other wildlife. Seeds stay viable for about one year.
