One of the most common liverworts in our area, found on wet, disturbed sites such as fertilized lawns. Also greenhouses. Circumboreal native. A thalloid liverwort that is dioecious - The "umbrellas" are male, the "palm trees" female. This is the only native genus of thalloid liverworts that produces gemmae cups. (USFS)
