Phlox maculata

Considered either threatened or endangered in NYS, although not hard to find in commerce. Populations are more secure south of NY, e.g. Pennsylvania. The common name "spotted phlox" refers to reddish spots on the stem. Found in disturbed habitats, meadows and fields.
