Pinus strobus

Tall evergreen tree, common and in a variety of habitats. Needs openings to establish, thus most dense stands are in old fields, or at water edges. 5 needles per bundle. A valuable timber tree, few old stands remain. All white pines used to belong to the English king, for use as ship masts.
