Platanus occidentalis
A tall, fast growing tree of floodplains and stream/river corridors. Older trees stand out with white branches due to exfoliating bark. Large trunks can develop hollowed portions very useful for wildlife, including bats. The common name "buttonball" refers to the fruit.
Commonly seeds along edges of streams & creeks. Notice reddish stem.
