Small to medium shrub found on rocky summits & bluffs in our region, and "rarely occurs in open fields with thin seasonally saturated and seasonally dry soils" [NYFA]. (Occurs in sandy soils and beaches where they exist!) syn: Prunus pumila var. susquehanae
