Solidago ptarmicoides
Most natural occurances are north of the Finger Lakes, in alvar habitats or thin soils over limestone. In those locations the species can be abundant. It can be grown in gravel beds and rock gardens. Despite classification as a goldenrod, S. ptarmicoides appears more like an aster to the casual observer.
