Pinus resinosa
According to the NY Flora Atlas, red pine is found on steep S & W facing slopes & bluffs in dry rocky soils in central & western NY. But in the rest of the state it's in pine barrens or deep sands. Also found in older pine plantations as it was (still is) an important lumber tree. Look for it along the aptly named "red pine trail" in Treman State Park. Needles in twos.
