Podophyllum peltatum
Mostly found in forests (dry-mesic, not wet) and edge habitat. Very distinctive leaves last into early summer. Single leaved plants do not bloom; older or better nourished plants can support two leaves, and then bloom. The plant is poisonous, although completely ripe fruit is edible. Fruit is usually yellow but occasional orange or red fruit is seen. Expands via rhizomes.
Large cotyledons, and the first leaves already curl into umbrella shape.
