Quercus muehlenbergii
Usually found on cliff edges, not very common in the Finger Lakes area. A medium-large tree of calcareous soils. Apparently prefers moister soils in cultivation. Very useful for wildlife, including pollinators. Leaves are similar to Q. montana, but the latter does not have papilla-like points (short rounded projections) at the tips of the leaf lobes. Quercus muehlenbergii does have those points.
