Renee Petipas and Bruce Gilman will be our guides to these unique alvar sites. This will be an all day excursion. Meet a 8 am at CCE to carpool. Bring lunch and dress for warm, sunny conditions.
Asteraceae #2

Jam Pond
Jam Pond is a diverse peatland in Chenango County, located within the DEC's Five Streams Management Unit. This walk will require some bushwhacking and we are certain to get wet feet, so come prepared. It will be well worth the effort! Meet at CCE at 9 am to carpool.

Robert Wesley will lead a wildflower walk in the Six Mile Creek Natural Area on Sunday, May 10, starting at 1 pm.
The spring ephemerals are a little past peak; see them now while you still can! Meet in the parking area of the Mulholland Wildflower Preserve.
Bushwacking HIke
SPECIAL April 1 WALK! We will explore the joys of hiking off trail through tick-infested fields, massive, dense thickets of blackberry, raspberry, greenbrier, multiflora rose, privet, hawthorn and buckthorn and, if we are lucky, a pond border lush with poison ivy, poison sumac, deep mud and treacherous footing. We will scale smooth, wet rockface and iceface (weather permitting). We will stop often to identify plants. Please bring a hand lens, sturdy boots, tick repellant, leather pants and a leather shirt, if you got them. We will leave promptly at 6:00 pm, from Cornell’s Clock Tower.

Join Akiva for a walk in the woods as we hike through the spectacular Danby State Forest (in a different direction than last year). We will be working on winter ID of trees and shrubs by looking at bark, buds, and form. Akiva will also be talking about survival uses of trees and shrubs as well as their natural history. The state forest is home to a wide diversity of trees as well as a massive and surreal wetland. Meet at CCE at 10 am to carpool, or 10:30 at the site: Take 96b south to Danby, turn right on Michigan Hollow Road (which is soon after Bald Hill Road).
FLNPS Annual Seed Collection Outing RAINDATE SUNDAY
Learn how to collect seeds of late-flowering native plants while gathering seeds for Plantations and the FLNPS seed exchange. Collecting equipment will be provided. Lime Hollow Walk
Join Mike Hough for a tour of the woods and wetlands of Lime Hollow, near Cortland. We may see Lobelia cardinalis in flower, many asters and goldenrods, and some other fall favorites.
