Fall Trees (change of date!!)
Learn how to identify trees by looking at buds and bark. Cornell’s Newman Preserve (aka Renwick Slope) is a small jewel with diverse trees to study. Meet at CCE to carpool or park (tightly!) at the upper entrance (1:15pm).
Annual Seed Collection is ON!
Grab a bag and help collect seeds for the FLNPS December seed exchange, the Plantations Wildflower Garden, and your own efforts. Learn how to identify desirable species even with no flowers and few leaves, whether seeds are ripe, how to store and propagate them – all while walking in pleasant surrounds (TBD). Meet at CCE to carpool. Please sign-up (e-mail info@flnps.org) so that we can notify you of any last minute changes, e.g. postponement.
Fall Composites (aka Asters & Goldenrods)
Learn how to identify the diverse fall composite flora in the woodlands and meadows along Monkey Run Road. Meet at CCE to carpool.
Ferns & Mosses at Clark Reservation (changed time at Clark!)
Ferns and Mosses at Clark Reservation, led by Bernie Carr and Norm Trigoboff. One of our more spectacular natural areas, very rich in ferns and mosses. To carpool meet at Cornell Cooperative Extension EARLY - 8:30 am, or meet at Clark Reservation by 10:00 am. (CHANGED from prior notice) (~45min-1hr drive from Ithaca).
Seneca Meadows (a FLNPS walk)
A guided walk along the trails of the Seneca Meadows remediation site led by Ben Zimmerman of Applied Ecological Services, see: http://www.senecameadows.com/trails.php. .

Caywood Point Natural History - a FLNPS walk
Join naturalist Charlie Smith and botanist Robert Wesley on a walk in the
Finger Lakes National Forest, ending up at Caywood Point on the shore of
Seneca Lake. We'll look for birds, butterflies, flora and other fauna
along the way. The walk will be steep on the uphill climb at the end of
the day. Bring plenty of water and pack a lunch in case we decide to make
a day of it.
Meet at Cornell Cooperative Extension promptly at 8:30 to Carpool, or meet at Ballard Pond Parking Area (Searsburg & Potomac Rds; 42.528810,-76.787594 ) at 9 am.
Ferns at Upper Treman (a FLNPS walk)
Mid summer is the perfect time to see our native fern species at their finest and several species can be found at this site. Meet at CCE at 1 pm to carpool.
